A Whitburn singer-songwriter will pen new tracks to help bring the story of Get Carter to the stage.

The new adaptation of the classic British crime drama is being produced by Northern Stage in Newcastle, with plans for a run of shows in Durham.

Set in 1960s Newcastle, it is a version of the novel Jack’s Return Home by Ted Lewis, made famous by the 1971 Mike Hodges’ film Get Carter.

Nadine will record original music and new arrangements of songs by The Animals, and will work with sound designer James Frewer, while percussionist Martin Douglas will perform live on drums in the role of Frank, Jack’s dead brother.

The cast will feature Kevin Wathen, who has starred in Billy Elliot at the Victoria Theatre in London, and Victoria Elliott, who appeared in BBC comedy Hebburn.

Get Carter runs from Friday, February 12, until Saturday, March 5, at Northern Stage before going on national tour until the end of April.
