The project is about harnessing the local talent, ambitions, skills and energy from individuals, groups and organisations who want to make their area an even better place to live.

The group has agreed to administer a “New Ideas Fund” of up to £2000 to establish new projects that will complement the Big Local Plan.

Anne Corrigan, Big Local Central Jarrow Coordinator said “The project has had huge success in uniting the community to get behind events and activities that have a local impact here in Jarrow.

In the last year we have supported 13 local community groups through our small grants scheme, awarding groups up to £500 each for new projects.

“We hope by moving to the hub and having a more central hub for the community we hope to be become even more visible in the community and will be able to help more local people over the coming years.”
