Youngsters in South Tyneside can look forward to using a new outdoor play area over the festive holidays.

The new park to the rear of the new leisure and community complex, Hebburn Central, features a slide, swings and climbing frames for youngsters aged two and over.

Councillor Alan Kerr, deputy leader with responsibility for leisure and culture, said: “With the Christmas holidays, this is the perfect time for this additional play area to open.

“I am sure this new park will be welcomed by families in Hebburn and further afield.

“It is in the perfect location and is a welcome addition for families making use of the wide range of activities at the ever-popular Hebburn Central.”

Speaking on behalf of the Hebburn North ward members, Councillors Richard Porthouse, Mary Butler and Adam Ellison, Coun Ellison added: “It is lovely to have this new play area, which is designed to stimulate adventurous and creative play, at the heart of the town. I am sure it will be very much appreciated by families.”
