United will take on the Bantams on Wednesday, July 26 at Valley Parade (kick-off 7.30pm).

And the Magpies have revealed that they will have a home friendly at St James's Park on the first weekend of August, as well as further "pre-season friendlies in the UK and in Europe".

Last summer United had a training camp in the Republic of Ireland before taking on Bohemians in mid-July. They then travelled to Doncaster and Southend before heading back on to the continent for a friendly with Sporting Lokeren. They completed their summer with a game against Vitesse Arnhem at SJP.

While many Premier League clubs go on long-haul trips to Asia and North America, Rafa Benitez is known to favour staying much closer to home.

And it is likely he will look to replicate the solid pre-season schedule put together last year, which set United up perfectly for their charge to the Championship title.

The club have confirmed they will release details of the club's final pre-season plans over the next few days, with a trip back to Ireland a possibility, as well as short trips to the continent, with the likes of Holland and Germany under consideration.
