The Everton left-back had been wanted by the Championship club on a season-long loan.

But Galloway has instead stayed in the Premier League with West Bromwich Albion, who have taken him on loan.

“I’m delighted," said Galloway. "It’s a great club, and I’m really looking forward to getting started.

“My aims are to play and work hard for the team and help win as many matches as I can, it’s all about winning.

“I think for me personally, it’s really important to gain more experience. Coming here is the perfect opportunity to do that.

“I can’t wait to get started and put the shirt on.”

Galloway, 20, has made 21 appearances for Everton since joining from MK Dons in 2014, but is yet to play this season and his last game came in a January FA Cup win over Carlisle United.

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez must now look elsewhere for defensive reinforcements.
