Bafetimbi Gomis's expected departure from Swansea City is not imminent, with head coach Francesco Guidolin insisting he remains their player.

The French forward has been linked with a January move to Newcastle United and Guidolin was asked about him at his pre-match press conference today.

Swansea are understood to be closing in on a deal for striker Alberto Paloschi from Chievo.

And Paloschi's arrival could spell the end for Gomis, with rumours the goal-shy striker may be on the move before Monday.

But Guidolin revealed the French forward's exit was not imminent.

"Gomis is our player at the moment," said the Swansea boss.

"There are two or three days left of the transfer window and at the moment he is one of my players."

Newcastle need to sign a striker in this month’s transfer window.

Head coach Steve McClaren desperately needs another goalscorer to relieve the pressure on misfiring Aleksandar Mitrovic.

And Gomis and Loic Remy are still on the club’s radar, though the former could price himself out of a move to Tyneside.
