Newcastle United 1 Bournemouth 3: Fans turn on embattled McClaren
Newcastle United fans turned on Steve McClaren as the club lurched towards the Championship.
Bournemouth beat McClaren's abject side 3-1 at St James's Park this afternoon.
The shambolic defeat, and Sunderland's draw at Southampton, left Newcastle second-bottom of the Premier League and a point adrift of safety.
United Fans chanted "you're getting sacked in the morning" and "Steve McClaren, you're taking us down" in the second half.
Bournemouth took the lead through a 28th-minute own goal from Steven Taylor.
Jack Colback gave the ball away on the edge of the box, and Max Gradel did well to find Joshua King on the left.
King's cross was inadvertently turned past Rob Elliot by Taylor.
Newcastle's first shot on target came in the 64th minute when Daryl Janmaat tested Artur Boruc from a tight angle.
But King added a second for Eddie Howe's side in the 70th minute.
Ayoze Perez, recalled to the starting XI by McClaren, pulled a goal back after running on to a superb pass from stand-in captain Jonjo Shelvey.
Charlie Daniels prompted a mass exodus from St James's Park with a third goal for Bournemouth in the 90th minute.
Newcastle's next fixture is their March 14 visit to leaders Leicester City.
