Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren has defended the club's trip to La Manga and insisted it is not a jolly.

McClaren will take his players to Spain next week for a training camp and a friendly against Norwegian club Lillestrom on February 20.

The trip has been arranged because of an 18-day gap in the relegation-threatened club's fixture list.

Asked if it was a "jolly," McClaren said: "Definitely not."

Meanwhile, McClaren has been handed a big fitness boost - with both Jack Colback and Emmanuel Riviere back in Newcastle United's squad for tomorrow's game against Chelsea.

The pair have recovered from their respective hamstring and knee injuries in time to travel to Stamford Bridge.

Head coach Steve McClaren said: "We've had Jack Colback training all week, and Manu as well.

And finally, a transfer line from the lower leagues.

Ex-Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi has a new club - signing for League One strugglers Fleetwood Town until the end of the season.

The 34-year-old, a former England Under-21 and Nigerian international, is set to make his debut for the Cod Army in Saturday's clash with Port Vale.
