Nightmare tenant who subjected neighbour to campaign of abuse is evicted

Terry Miller was forced to leave his home in Windsor Crescent after South Tyneside Council successfully secured possession through South Shields County Court.

The court heard that from October 2014, the 52-year-old had plagued his neighbour with his extremely drunken behaviour which included using abusive and threatening language.

This escalated when Miller intimidated and harassed a resident.

During this time he was convicted for two public order offences and made subject to a Restraining Order to protect victims.

Despite several warnings and Miller even signing a Good Neighbour Agreement promising to change his behaviour, the problems continued and escalated.

A South Tyneside Council spokesperson said: “Despite warnings and guidance to help him comply with the terms of his tenancy agreement, Mr Miller continued to show a complete lack of regard for his neighbours and the local community.

“His behaviour while under the influence of alcohol was having a serious detrimental impact on the health and wellbeing and quality of life of neighbouring residents and this is something we will not tolerate.

“We do not expect our residents to put up with such behaviour from their neighbours and would urge anyone experiencing a similar situation to report it to us so that we can take appropriate action.”

South Tyneside Council secured the 14 day possession order on Wednesday 3 February. Mr Miller left the property on 17 February.
