A South Tyneside mum is hoping to prove she’s made of the write stuff.

Karen English has made it into the finals of the North East Blogger Awards - the only awards ceremony of its kind which celebrates the best of the region’s bloggers.

The 38–year–old from Westoe Crown Village in South Shields, runs a blog called ‘Adventures of a Monkeyfooted Mummy’.

The mum–of –three said: “I’m so pleased to have made it to the finals and it’s been so lovely to see how happy people are to help out someone local, I feel like Cinderella since I announced that I’ve been shortlisted.

“It’s so lovely to see how kind people are and how much other mums want to help support you, that’s part of the reason I started blogging, the power of parent pals is amazing and the spirit of community amongst my mummy friends is uplifting and it shows how important that bond becomes when you’ve had kids.

“Blogging has opened up so many opportunities for my and the family we now work regularly with Northern Stage, The Tyne Theatre and Life Science Centre and I’ve made so many lovely blogger friends there really is a wealth of talent right here in the North East.”

Karen started blogging two years ago during her third pregnancy, writing about her life as a mum, sharing recipes, travel stories, reviews and Parenting tips.

The awards are being ran by Newcastle-based PR, digital and creative communications agency O.

The winner will be announced at a ceremony in Newcastle’s Assembly Room’s on November 10.
