Northumbria Police appeals for witnesses after cars damaged in East Boldon

Six cars have been damaged in a single South Tyneside street – prompting a police appeal for witnesses.

Northumbria Police has confirmed that the incidents all happened in Bede Terrace, East Boldon, between 7.30pm on Saturday and 9am on Sunday.

Yellow paint was sprayed or splattered on each car parked in the street.

Neighbourhood Sergeant Jon Commons, of Northumbria Police, said: “Patrols will be stepped up in the area to deter offences and and reassure the community that these acts of wanton vandalism are a very rare occurance indeed.

“Whoever has done this may think it is harmless fun but the damage has caused a great deal of inconvenience and cost to the residents who have been affected.”

House to house inquiries are being carried out by police, and any residents with CCTV cameras are being asked to review their footage.
