Nothing to do with long life

Regarding the recent article on a fairer deal for women and the state pension, myself and my husband have recently found out that the state pension age is rising to 66 for both of us.

As we are 60, people in our age group, both men and women , have really had not have had much time to financially plan for this as it was apparently passed in a recent pensions act by the Coalition Government .

As we have both been working since the early 1970s, I think we, and people in our age group have certainly paid enough into the existing system.

This Goverment’s excuse is that we are all living longer, but what a surprise, a recent article in the Daily Mail stated that the rise in state pension age to 66 is forecast to save the treasury more than £5billion per year.
