The United Kingdom’s transition period for leaving the European Union after Brexit is due to expire at the end of this year – but do you think an extension should be permitted as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak?

With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic still causing chaos across the world, we asked the Gazette readers for their opinions on extending the Brexit transition period with a view to securing a deal for the future.

Carol Griffiths: “Absolutely not. We voted to leave, that transition period ends December 31 and it can't come soon enough.”

Angie Robson: “Let's get it over and done with. Somehow I think we will suffer somewhere along the line so after this year let's get it over with.”

Carol Hall: “Covid is already seeing a major economic disaster so having no trade deal in place would be a bit silly, however I think we will leave regardless.”
