Owner sought after dog was found on South Shields industrial estate 'in a bad way'

Rescuers are looking for the owner of a poorly dog found wandering the streets of South Shields.

Staffordshire bull terrier Zola had severe mange and an eye condition, when she was found by the RSPCA on Tuesday.

Zola had sore skin, fur loss and conjunctivitis when she was picked up by inspector Helen Nedley on the Rekendyke Industrial Estate.

The charity is now searching for the owner of the six-year-old female brindle Staffie and urging anyone who knows what might have happened to her to come forward.

Inspector Nedley said: “Poor Zola was found wandering around the industrial estate with bad mange and an eye infection. She was in a bad way.

“We really need to know what happened to this poor girl and how she got to be in this place in such a poorly way.

“Zola has been bred from, possibly recently, so it may be that there are some Staffie puppies that people are aware of in relation to Zola.

“We would urge anyone with information about what happened to Zol or where she has come from to give us a call as soon as possible on the RSPCA appeal line on 0300 123 8018.”
