Two students could be battling it out a prestigious universities after gaining top marks.
Fadle Arouna and Craig Robinson were beyond delighted after picking up top A-level grades at Harton 6th Form in Lisle Road, South Shields
Craig, from Harton Village, South Shields, has scooped a place at Oxford University in September where he will be studying theology.
The 18–year–old gained As in history, geography and politics and also a B in economics.
He said: “I didn’t know what to expect, but I am now pretty relived that I’ve got the results I wanted.
“I want a career eventually in politics. I am not sure if I want to try and become the next prime minister, just as long as it’s something within that field I will be happy.”

Fadle, 18, from Lawe Top, South Shields, still has a further anxious wait to see if his place at Cambridge University will be confirmed despite being awarded A*s in French, Maths and Further Maths.
Fadle, who gained the best results in his sixth form, said: “I still have to await the results for some more university exams before I know for certain I’ve gained a place.
“But I am hoping to study maths there if everything goes according to plan.
“I am really pleased with my A-levels though. I’m not sure what I would like do career wise, I’m a bit undecided at the moment.”
