Parody of Hollywood hit Jurassic Park stomping into South Shields theatre

Dinosaur Park (The Jurassic Parody) comes to the Customs House, in South Shields, tomorrow.

The award-winning parody was inspired by one of Hollywood’s most iconic movie franchises ever – Jurassic Park.

The laugh-out-loud spin on Steven Spielberg’s classic was a sell-out at last year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Ray Spencer, executive director of the Mill Dam venue, said: “We can’t wait for Dinosaur Park to arrive. It has been loved by all who have seen it and it was a must have for our summer season.

“Thursday is the first day of the summer holidays so start the holidays on a high with a great family show.

“It’s also an apt start to our summer, which is jam-packed with first-rate comedy with the first South Tyneside Comedy Festival starting later in the month.”

Theatre company Superbolt’s Dinosaur Park (The Jurassic Parody) has won five-star reviews, as well as awards for outstanding new show and pick of the week, and picked up celebrity fans including Sam Neill.

Sam, who played Dr Alan Grant in the original Jurassic Park movie, tweeted: “Well, just saw Jurassic Park-the play & it’s BRILLIANT ! Hilarious, poignant, spot on - great @Superboltplays”

The show will see you enter a lost world of prehistoric proportions, where the past and present entwine like a strand of DNA.

It’s an ancient island driven by dollars and dinosaurs, but what really happened off the west coast of Costa Rica in 1989? There have been numerous stories, countless rumours, a few films and couple of books, but now Superbolt have excavated the truth. The Park Family – Terry, Jade and Noah – embark on a journey to a misty past, where, when things go wrong, family feuds are faced with the rapturous roar of DIY dinosaurs.

The show has an eight-years-and-over recommended age restriction.
