Passenger taken to hospital after bus and car crash

A COLLISION between a bus and a car left a passenger needing hospital treatment.

The Astra car and Go Ahead single decker collided in York Avenue, Jarrow at 10.40pm on Sunday.

The bus driver was uninjured.

However, a 68-year-old man who had been a passenger in the car driven by his wife, suffered injuries to his side.

He had to be cut free by firefighters from Hebburn after they were unable to open the door.

He was taken to South Tyneside District Hospital as a precaution.
