Patients at Suth Tyneside Hospital are sitting comfortably

Patients at South Tyneside District Hospital can do so in more comfort, thanks to the League of Friends of South Tyneside Hospitals.

The Friends donated more than £600 for a special chair for the Endocrinology department, where patients are assessed and treated for diseases related to hormones.

Diabetes and Endocrine Specialist Nurse Kay Sadler said: “We test the hormonal functions in the patient’s body using various methods and this can take between a few hours and a full day. Our staff also administer infusions and injections for certain hormone deficiencies which can have a major impact upon an individual’s life. It is important that our patients feel as comfortable as possible while these procedures are carried out so the chair is extremely valuable to our service and we are very grateful to the League of Friends for their generous donation.”
