Family share funeral arrangements after tragic death of South Tyneside master barber Allan Stone

Relatives of the much-loved and respected barber Allan Stone will be holding his funeral on Tuesday, February 9 but remind anyone wishing to pay tributes to follow social distancing guidelines.

Heartfelt cards and bouquets of flowers were left outside Allan Stone’s barber shop as tributes flooded social media after the much-loved South Shields master barber and dad tragically died on Thursday, January 28 at the age of 46.

Allan’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 9. Funeral cars will leave Allan's house at 11.15am and continue on a route along Highfield Road, down Dean Road and then to Laygate, where flowers will be laid outside Stoney’s Barber Shop.

The route will then continue to St. Bede’s Church where the service will be held at 11.45am.

Allan’s family and friends said they appreciate that many people will want to pay their respects but the number of people attending the service is limited, and limousine’s will be taking these permitted attendees.

Family friend Sean Shabilla said: “Allan was a loved man and we understand many people will want to pay their respects.

"However the family are limited to the number of people who can attend the service. The limousine’s will be taking the permitted attendees.

Following the service from St. Bede’s Church, the funeral will be travelling to Harton Cemetery where Allan will be buried and laid to rest.

A fundraiser has been set up by Allan’s close friend Sean Shabilla, along with his partner to help support Allan’s family following his shock death.

More than £22,000 has now been raised to help support Allan’s family with funeral and unexpected costs.

Allan died late on Thursday, January, 28 and was a grandmaster barber, as named by the BMB, and a master barber, as recognised by the British Barbers’ Association.

He began his career at Saks hairdressers in Newcastle as a Saturday worker while still at school.

In 2019 he expanded his business by opening a second outlet in South Shields.
