Firefighters have been called to a blaze in a field in South Shields.

Crews were called to the fire in a field off Lizard Lane in the town.

The blaze is believed to be close to the popular Hill Head Farm and Tearooms.

Smoke could be seen billowing into the air as fire crews arrived at the blaze.

Two engines from South Shields were called to the incident at 8.40pm and remained at the scene until 9.34pm.
