Girl, 10, taken to hospital after being hit by car near Boldon School

A 10-year-old has been taken to hospital after she was hit by a car in Boldon Colliery.

Emergency services were called to New Road this afternoon (Thursday, June 10) where a girl, age 10, had been hit by a car.

North East Ambulance Service treated the girl, who had suffered minor injuries to her head and leg in the collision, before she was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The incident is believed to have taken place near Boldon School.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At 4pm today we were alerted by the ambulance service to a collision involving a car and a child on New Road, Boldon Colliery.

“Officers attended and found a 10-year-old girl had suffered minor injuries to her head and leg. The girl’s family have been notified and she has been taken to hospital as a precaution.”

A North East Ambulance Service spokesman added: “A paramedic crew treated her for a head injury and took her to the RVI.”
