Bailey Barlow and her partner Holly Clay were enjoying a day out at the coast on Saturday, July 18 when they saw a little girl leave something at the top of Marsden cliffs.

After the family left Bailey couldn’t resist going to see what it was and found a hand-painted rock bearing the message ‘you’re worth it’.

The 21-year-old, who has struggled with her own mental health issues in the past, says seeing it brought tears to her eyes.

"Holly’s not from here so I was showing her around the area and she knew that the cliffs are a place that hold many sad memories, for not only myself but for hundreds of people in the region who have lost people dear to them,” said Bailey, who works with children with special needs.

"Seeing what the little girl had placed on the ground made my heart fill up, it was such a pure act of kindness.

"Its not often people take the time to do things for others in this day and age.”

In a candid Facebook post afterwards, in an attempt to track down the kind-hearted youngster, Bailey revealed that she had lost loved ones at Marsden cliffs and had even been in that place herself.

She told the Gazette: “I'm on the path to getting better with my own health now, but I’ve often found myself wanting to take a journey to that very spot without the intentions of returning.

"I'm on a uphill battle and seeing this on that day honestly made me remember that even a stranger cares – it really does only take one person to prove that.”

Bailey is hopeful that the little girl’s family may see her message and know how much it meant to her.

She added: “Seeing such a heartwarming act was something I'll cherish forever and I know other people who happen to stumble across it will too – it was honestly the highlight of my year.
