Nerdy up North is a community group for people who are passionate about games, music, films, TV and merchandise. The group aimed to raise £200 for the cat charity but more than doubled that raising over £500.

Nerdy Group Founder Paul Watson said: “We chose Willows because we wanted to support a local charity and animals mean a lot to us. Both my wife Nichol and co-founder Sam have adopted cats from Willows so it something very close to our hearts. We felt the donations would really help especially over the Christmas period.”

Willows is a small but caring and dedicated shelter that has been helping stray and abandoned cats for many years. Willows are absolutely delighted with the amazing amount raised, some of which will go toward the 'Brick Fund Appeal' to help them build bigger and better shelters for the cats which will be great especially over the difficult Winter period.

A spokesperson from Willows said: “I think we're as nerdy about cats as much as these guys are about their fave TV programmes and films.”
