Brooke has been named as one of ten hopefuls who will now go head to head to be crowned the region’s ‘stay at home superstar’.

"I’ve been singing for over 20 years but I’ve never really had a break,” said Brooke, who has even tried writing her own material to make it in the industry.

“I’m hoping that this competition will give me a bigger platform and the chance to reach bigger audiences.

As well as impressing with their vocal talents, each contestant is raising much-needed funds for Metro Radio's Cash 4 Kids to help disadvantaged and disabled children across the North East.

Brooke, who is one half of duo Macarber with husband Ian Barber, is used to performing at pubs, clubs and venues across the UK.

But since the lockdown she has been entertaining audiences from her kitchen instead, streaming performances on her Facebook page – including a successful fundraiser for Age UK.

“As a full-time singer I’ve had no work for the last few months and I felt I needed to put my talents to good use,” she said.

Brooke added: "Even if I don’t win, it’s great to be able to raise awareness of the charity and all of the money will go to help children in the region.”
