Last Saturday (February 22) on Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway the Geordie duo announced the annual ‘place on the plane’ competition, where they fly lucky competition winners to Disney World, Florida.

This year, entries must display posters for a chance to win tickets and a man from Sunderland has gone the extra mile for his seat.

Lee Halliday, 38 from Millfield was tasked by his wife Niki Halliday, 41 to put the posters in the window, he said: “We watched it on Saturday night, and then again on Sunday morning and my wife tasked me with putting a couple in the window.

“But, we live on the end terrace and I thought I’m sure I can get some printed big enough for the side of the house.

“I contacted a local printing company, WH Forster and asked them if there way anyway I could get this printed, when I went down on Wednesday they had decided a three metre high poster was best.”

The poster on the side of Lee’s house is an impressive three metres by two metres, which is taller than the average person, standing at 9.8ft.

Lee is hoping to win a place on the plane for a family holiday, with his wife and two children.

He said: “They didn’t say how many tickets you get, I hope it’s four because I have two kids.

“If it’s three, I might have to pick a favourite, and if it’s two it looks like they’ll be spending a few days at Grandma’s – that’s going to go down like a lead balloon.”

Luckily for Lee, the prize is a five night holiday to Disney World for up to four people, so if his gambit pays off his whole family will be enjoying a holiday to Florida.

While it would be great to win, Lee added: “I’ve had some fun doing it anyway, it’s been a laugh.

“It’s just a bit of fun – a mission I was tasked with by the wife. Fingers crossed it works.”
