Sharon Goldfinch: “Moved away 23 years now, but come back every three to five weeks to see family. It's not until you move away that you appreciate the beautiful coast/beaches/parks that South Shields has!”
Gemma Tutill: “I moved away 25 years ago. For me it's the coast but also the fish and chips.”
Tracy Bone: “I live in Greater Manchester now and there’s loads I miss … the smell of the sea air to start. As soon as hit John Reid Road I open the car window it brings back so many happy memories. I miss the accents of the friendly people, the beaches and the fairground, the food - stottie cakes, savoury dips, pease pudding.”
Angela Waring: “Every inch of the coastline, from The Groyne along to the impressive Trow Rocks then up and over the Leas with its majestic coves and bays right the way up and past Souter Lighthouse to Whitburn cliffs.”

Diane Dobson: “West Park and the beautiful cherry trees in spring.”
Caroline Mullen: “I miss being woken up by the sound of seagulls, I miss misty mornings and sea air. I miss Minchellas ice cream, saveloy dips , stotties and pease pudding. I miss my quiet place St Paul's church in Jarrow where I collect my thoughts.”
