These are the Christmas payment dates for Universal Credit, child benefit, PIP and other benefits

Here’s when tax credits, child benefit, PIP and ESA will be paid in England and Wales.

The government has set the dates and many claimants could be paid early. But there are some differences depending on the type of benefit.

Those due to receive Universal Credit on Christmas Day or Boxing Day will be paid on Christmas Eve, along with various other benefit types. Those due a payment on New Year’s Day will be paid on December 31.

CHILD BENEFIT

Most child benefit payments fall on a Monday or Tuesday for most households and Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day this year all fall on Wednesdays and Thursdays, so payments should be paid normally.

But if a normal payment date falls on days other than Monday or Tuesday, then the following changes could apply:

Payment due: Wednesday, December 25. Payment made: Tuesday, December 24.

Payment due: Thursday, December 26. Payment made: Tuesday, December 24.

Payment due: Friday, December 27. Payment made: December 27.

Payment due: Saturday, December 28. Payment made: December 28.

Payment due: Sunday, December 29. Payment made: December 29.

Payment due: Monday, December 30. Payment made: December 30.

Payment due: Tuesday, December 31. Payment made: December 31.

Payment due: Wednesday, January 1. Payment made: Tuesday, December 31.

Payment due: Thursday, January 2. Payment made: January 2.

TAX CREDITS

These can be made on any working day, so Christmas may affect when the money arrives in your bank account.
