Watch as brothers run final 22 laps of their garden in memory of Chloe Rutherford and Liam Curry

Every day for the last two months, whilst the country is on lockdown, Charlie, 11 and Logan Jackson, nine, have run 22 laps of their back garden.

Since setting off Saturday, March 28, the boys have run a total of 49 miles - 0.88miles a day – and have raised more than £1,880 for the Chloe and Liam Together Forever Trust.

They completed their final 22 laps on Friday, May 22 – the third anniversary of the Manchester Arena attack which took the lives of the South Shields couple, along with 20 others.

Every year the borough turns pink and blue in tribute, but this year loved ones are remembering them from home.

The boys - whose mum Wendy is a cousin of Chloe’s mum Lisa Rutherford - dedicated each one of the final 22 laps to one of the 22 victims.

Wendy, 39, said: “We are so proud of them, they have done so well.

“There was a few really wet and windy days and some really hot days, but they dug deep and kept going.

“It’s outstanding what they have achieved, but the main thing is raising awareness of the trust and they wanted to finish it on Friday to make it a bit more poignant.”

For the final day, they decorated their home in Westerhope, Newcastle with pink and blue decorations in a tribute of Chloe and Liam.

Wendy continued: “They did so well on the anniversary, they made it really special – it was a real celebration of their achievement.

“The support from everyone has been amazing and has given them a real boost to see all the donations and comments coming in.

“They have a really good understanding of the work the trust does and how it is creating a legacy for Chloe and Liam.”

Charlie added: “We've found it really challenging but we’re both really proud of what we have achieved - we never even thought we would raise £200 never mind £2000.”
