Peppa Pig and SpongeBob SquarePants will join a star-studded sports line-up at a special fundraising event.

Youngsters are expected to be bowled over by the TV favourites at Durham’s Big Birthday Blast on Sunday, August 16 – a celebration of the 20th year of cricket at the Emirates Durham International Cricket Ground (EDICG), as well as the anniversary of Durham fund-giving organisation County Durham Community Foundation (CDCF).

The Birthday Blast will see legendary cricket players take on a team of Durham’s own cricketers, as well as a soon-to-be-announced line up of well-known sporting personalities in a T20 match. Peppa Pig and SpongeBob SquarePants will be there to keep the younger visitors entertained.

David Harker, from Durham County Cricket Club, said: “Our Big Birthday Blast is shaping up to be a fantastic day and we’re delighted to have Peppa Pig and SpongeBob SquarePants joining us to make sure our younger guests are just as entertained as the cricketing fans.

“The day will have something for everyone to enjoy, with the celebrities and great sport, as well as a huge amount going on off the field with soft play, a mini funfair, and food and drink from local producers.”

The event will be helping to raise funds for CDFC and for the club’s bid to develop a community use training ground.Peppa Pig
