Peterson's back to help Whiteleas and Harton edge away from drop zone

Following a comprehensive win against Marsden in the South Tyneside derby last weekend, Whiteleas and Harton CC travel to fellow relegation rivals Durham City this weekend.

Just one place and five points separate the two clubs, with Nathan Ullah once again leading the troops with club captain Andrew Potts still unavailable.

David Arrowsmith (work) and Lewis Surtees (injured) are both also unavailable, but Whiteleas are boosted by the return of key batsmen, Owen Peterson.

Andrew Davies also returns to the side and will be called upon to bowl in the crucial middle overs.

Captain Nathan Ullah said ahead of the game: “It’s time to put everything we managed to put together last week and kick on properly.

“This is a real chance to create a gap between us and the bottom two.”

The Second XI entertain Durham City in the return fixture at the Welfare Ground.

Tonight sees the final round of 15/15 fixtures with Whiteleas entertaining Bill Quay.

Owen Peterson will captain a youthful side, knowing a win and with other results going their way, they can once again progress to finals day for the third time in four years.
