Police appeal over South Tyne crash

Police are appealing for information after a van was involved in a collision with a house wall in South Tyneside.

The accident happened around 12.15am on Friday, November, on the A183 Coast Road in Whitburn.

Police say that, for reasons yet to be established, a van left the road and collided with the garden wall of a house.

Emergency services attended and both the driver, a 35-year-old man, and passenger, a 22-year-old woman, were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The woman is described as being in a stable condition.

The driver is said to be in critical but stable condition.

Officers are carrying out enquiries into the collision and are keen to speak to any witnesses.
