Police confirm man has died after falling ill while out on Coast Road
A man died after falling ill while out on the South Shields coast.
The emergency services were called to the A183 Coast Road, near Marsden, following concerns for the man.
The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) confirmed it sent a rapid response paramedic, a specialist paramedic and an ambulance crew to the scene as efforts were made to save him.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At 11.13am yesterday, Saturday, May 9, we received a report of concern for a man on the Coast Road, South Shields.

“Emergency services attended but sadly the man died following a suspected medical episode.
“There was no third party involvement and a report will be made for the coroner.”
A spokesperson for NEAS said: “We were called ay 11.05am to reports that a patient was unwell on the Coast Road in South Shields and we sent three resources to the scene.”
