Police find body in the hunt for missing man

Police searching for a South Tyneside man missing from his home have discovered a body.

Paul Hemmer, was last seen at his address in Thames Avenue, Jarrow, at 11am on Thursday October 1.

His concerned family contacted police and a missing person’s search was launched.

The body of a man was later discovered by officers called to Calf Close Walk, Jarrow, on Saturday.

The 57-year-old’s family have been informed a report has been prepared for the coroner.

A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said: “Police can confirm they have found the body of a man.

“Officers were contacted over concerns for a man in Calf Close Walk in Jarrow on Saturday October 3.

“Officers attended and the body of a man was discovered.

“The family of Paul Hemmer have been informed.

“Police believe there is no third party involvement.

“A report has been prepared for the coroner.”
