Police hunt early morning arsonist who struck in South Shields

AN arsonist is being hunted after a car fire in South Shields.

It happened at around 4.30am today in Coston Drive, in the town centre.

A BMW is believed to have been set alight maliciously, and the flames left another car, a Vauxhall Zafira, damaged.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the parked car was set on fire.

Unknown offenders set the vehicle alight causing the vehicle to be burnt out. The fire service attended and the cause of the fire was found to be malicious. No one was injured during the incident.

Anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious is asked to contact police.
