Steve Richards (Green)

I have experienced first-hand the effect of the government’s austerity measures on the average working person, and what the lack of spending on infrastructure, NHS and welfare does to a community.

I support The Green Party’s policy of electoral reform.

Because of the security of this seat for the Labour party, I have felt that it did not matter who I chose to vote for as the outcome was almost guaranteed.

By standing for councillor I will give people a choice to feel that their vote matters and could help change the system to a fairer one.

Keith Campbell Sumby (Conservative)

For any democracy to function those in charge need to be held to account and their actions put under scrutiny.

This is not happening in South Tyneside as all seats in all wards are held in the vice-like grip of one party.

Their actions/plans are not thus tempered by reason or subjected to a meaningful impact assessment.

If I’m honoured by your vote on May 3rd you will have taken the first step needed to return your town hall back into care and good governance.

Richie Porthouse (Labour)

I’m proud to have been re-selected to stand for Hebburn North on Thursday 3rd May.

I have had the privilege of being chair of the Hebburn Community Area Forum for six of the eight years that I have represented Hebburn North. Leading discussions, not just about the Hebburn North ward, but the town as a whole.

I’m so proud of our wonderful community; those who have fed families most in need; rallied the community around our cemetery; maintained projects in our town for the community.

Fantastic people doing fantastic things.

I hope to continue to be your champion.
