Ponies to go back on hills

So thousands of folk who don't know any better turned out to see this year's camel parade in South Shields despite our MP Emma Lewel-Buck backing a nationwide campaign for the outdated practice not to go ahead.

Now I read with incredulity that the council is to return Exmoor ponies to Cleadon Hills to graze saving the council money for cutting it, never mind the fact that a 12-year-old Shetland pony was recently discovered hacked to death in a field off Cleadon Lane,.

Let’s hope the £3,500 reward will help put the killer behind bars.
