A POOL team are now sporting a new strip after securing a sponsorship deal from a Hebburn-based business.

The group from the Royal Oak pub have been given a boost by electronic cigarette shop Safe Vape.

The team have been together for a number of years now, and it’s great to have a local business come forward to sponsor us.

The firm, which is based in St John’s Precinct, Hebburn, stepped in to fund new T-shirts for the group when the owner heard that the team was looking for sponsors.

The team, based at the pub in Grange Road, Jarrow, have been competing in competitions for the past three to four years.

Team member Peter Watt said: “The team have been together for a number of years now, and it’s great to have a local business come forward to sponsor us.

“There are a lot of teams within the league, and we all do look for sponsorship from time to time.

“It’s just great that someone like Safe Vape have stepped in to support us.”

Safe Vape was opened in Hebburn last August by Peter Knowles.

The shop, based within the precinct, sells a range of vapour and e-cigarettes – with Mr Knowles making his own flavours on site.

He said: “One of the lads from the team came into the shop and we got talking about the pool team and how they were looking for sponsors.

“I have been open for about nine months now, the shop is doing really well and I am now looking to go online to sell products.

“When I heard about the pool team, I decided I would sponsor them, as a way of giving something back to the community to say thank you for their support towards my business.”
