Pub was an old favourite

I wonder if local historian and photographer Derek Moulding noticed Time of our lives, the nostalgia page in the Gazette on January 27.

The page featured my late father’s favourite watering hole The General Havelock, which used to stand near Binns department store in South Shields town centre.

It was named as The Fountain Inn (still standing) in Horsely Hill Road and The Fountain was named as The Havelock.
