Rafa Benitez reacts to '˜win-win' scenario for Newcastle's Aleksandar Mitrovic
Rafa Benitez says Aleksandar Mitrovic's loan has been a 'win-win situation' for Newcastle United and Fulham.
The striker was loaned to the Championship club in January.
And Mitrovic’s goals have helped Fulham push for automatic promotion to the Premier League.
The 23-year-old scored the club’s winner in last night’s 2-1 win over Sunderland at Craven Cottage.
“It’s been perfect,” said United manager Benitez.
“We’re in a win-win situation. He’s still our player.”
Benitez has been in contact with all Newcastle’s loan players.
“I stay in touch with all the players who are out on loan,” he said.
“We follow them, and I have watched the highlights of some of the games.”
There have been calls for Mitrovic, signed from Anderlecht three years ago, to be given another chance at United next season.
However, Newcastle will look to cash in on the 23-year-old, who will go to the World Cup finals in Russia with Serbia.
Fulham are interested in signing Mitrovic on a permanent deal, while promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers have also been linked with a move for him.
