The winger wasn't involved in last weekend's 2-1 win over Arsene Wenger's side at St James's Park.
And Atsu won't feature against Everton at Goodison Park on Monday night,

The 26-year-old has a minor knee problem and will be further assessed next week ahead of the April 28 home game against West Bromwich Albion.
United manager Benitez said: "Everything is fine. We have Atsu with a little problem, and we don’t want to take any risks at this stage."
Newcastle are 10th in the Premier League after four successive wins.
Benitez's side are a point behind ninth-placed Everton, where manager Sam Allardyce is under pressure.
