A businesswoman who held a raffle in aid of a homeless charity says she has been “overwhelmed” by people’s generosity.
Natalie Wiley, who runs Realign Sports and Holistic Massage, set about gathering donations from local businesses with a view to raffling off gifts in aid of the Key Project in South Tyneside.
The charity provides advice, support and accommodation to young people aged 16 to 25 who are threatened with being made homeless.
However, when Natalie started the fundraising venture she had no idea how generous people would be.
Within a few weeks, 10 prizes had been donated and more than £300 was raised for the charity.
Natalie said: “I’m friends with Louise Scott who launched the advent boxes and thought it would be nice to try and raise a bit of money for the homeless too.
“I only expected to have a couple of prizes to raffle but thanks to the generosity of local and small businesses I ended up with 10 prizes which have all been raffled.
“I have been overwhelmed with the response and the generosity of everyone.”
Prizes included an Indian Head Massage, from Realign; Neal’s Yard Remedies Organic Gift set; Everlasting Christmas Wreath from Letty Loves Florist; Festive Candle from Hearts from Home; Witness the Fitness voucher; Personal Training session with Steve East; MOT from Gary Tuck Workshops; Gel Nails from Fairytale Nails; Photoshoot with Corrina Atkinson photography; Afternoon tea for two at No 4 Restaurant.
A cheque for the money raised has now been handed over to the charity.
