Hundreds of youngsters put their best foot forward to play a part in this year’s Great North Run weekend.
Fleet-footed competitors got on their marks for the Mini Great North Run on Newcastle’s Quayside today.
The annual extravaganza saw sporty children aged between three and eight complete a 1.5km circuit - just 24 hours ahead of the Great North Run itself.
Even heavy rain couldn’t dampen the enthusiasm on show as the young runners pounded the pavements in a bid for glory.
Competitors received their very own running T-shirt, a goodie-filled finisher’s pack and that all-important medal.
