People can rock the night away – and raise money for charity – at a special concert in South Tyneside.
UK Rock Legends – featuring former members of legendary bands such as The Animals and Thin Lizzy – will be performing at The Customs House in South Shields to raise funds for the Mayor of South Tyneside’s charity next month.
The band features Martin Bland on bass and vocals who is a former member of The Animals and Thin Lizzy, Tony Liddle on vocals and guitar (ex Saxon and The Animals), Stevie Hutch on keyboard and vocals (ex The Animals), Steve Lamb (ex Tygers of Pan Tang) and international session drummer Paul Elliott.
For the past ten years, UK Rock Legends has toured Europe performing the legendary hits of the bands and artists that they have worked with throughout their musical careers.
The band members have worked with numerous musical greats including Status Quo, Joe Cocker, Dire Straits and Whitesnake and regularly headline at concerts in Europe to audiences of 50,000 people.
The Mayor of South Tyneside, Coun Richard Porthouse, said: “This concert will be packed with hits from the ‘60s, ‘70s and 80s, ensuring a brilliant evening that will appeal to all tastes and ages.
“From Cream to Whitesnake and Foreigner to Saxon, there really is something for everyone at this concert. In addition to having a fantastic night out, people will be raising vital funds for the Mayor’s Charity.”
This year the Mayor is raising funds for Cancer Connections, the Great North Air Ambulance and the South Tyneside branch of the Alzheimer’s Society.
Customs House Executive Director Ray Spencer said: “We’re thrilled to be hosting the UK Rock Legends next month – not only will they raise the roof but plenty of funds too for the Mayor’s Charity.”
The concert will be held on Friday, October 23 at 7.45pm. Tickets, priced at £10, are available from the Civic Office at Jarrow Town Hall, or by calling (0191) 424 7311 or (0191) 424 7256, and are also available from The Customs House box office on 0191 454 1234 or via the website at www.customshouse.co.uk.
