A cyclist who could ‘easily have suffered serious injury’ after being knocked off his bike is urged to come forward.

Officers were called to York Avenue, Jarrow, shortly before 7pm on Saturday, December 12, after a car collided with a male cyclist.

The cyclist is believed to have hit his head off the windscreen. The driver stopped, tried to assist the cyclist and contacted the emergency services.

Before they could make sure the cyclist was OK, the rider had jumped back on his bike and left.

Due to the force of the collision, the rider could easily have suffered serious injury – so officers are asking the individual in question to come forward and let them know he is safe and well.

The cyclist is not in any trouble but officers just want to make sure he isn’t seriously injured.
