Second suspected arson attack at South Shields car wash

A car wash hit by a suspected race-hate arson and vandalism attack has been set ablaze a second time.

The cabin used by Bubbles car wash, at the side of the Simonside Social Club in Winskell Road, South Shields, was set ablaze at 1am yesterday.

It came just weeks after a similar incident, where a cabin was destroyed by a suspected deliberate fire and racist graffiti daubed around the site.

Northumbria Police officers are now appealing for information on the most recent incident, involving a small fire on a metal container.

A spokesman said: "Enquiries into how the fire was started are ongoing however it is believed to be malicious ignition and police are treating the incident as arson.

"Noone was injured in the incident."
