A date has been set for the sentence of a killer who stabbed his partner to death in a horrific mothers' day attack.
Anthony Ross stabbed mum-of-two Melissa Liddle 41 times after becoming convinced she was having an affair.
The 23-year-old's death has left her grieving family devastated.
Ross, 24, of Oak Avenue, South Shields, admitted manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility at an earlier hearing .
He has been undergoing psychiatric assessment in a secure hospital.
At Newcastle Crown Court Judge John Milford QC extended the hospital order for him to continue to be examined by experts.
The judge said Ross will finally be sentenced on January 26.
Judge Milford told the court: "The order is to be extended.
"I list this case for sentence on the afternoon of January 26 2016."
The sentence hearing is estimated to take approximately an hour and a half.
At least two psychiatrists are expected to be present at the hearing.
