Around 30 singers from the North East have lent their voices to the track which is a cover of Ariana Grande hit ‘One Last Time.’

Pianist Tyron Spence, 23, has organised the group of local artists to record their version of the song in tribute to teenage couple Chloe Rutherford, 17, and Liam Curry, 19.

Cloe, of Marsden, South Shields, and Liam, from Biddick Hall, South Shields, were among 22 people who lost their lives when a suicide bomber struck at Manchester Arena following an Ariana Grande concert.

Tyron, from Gateshead, hopes the cover song will raise funds for the Manchester Evening News appeal to support the families of the victims.

He said: “The recording is done and we will be shooting the video before releasing the song online next Wednesday.

“I wanted to try and help show support in the only way I could, which was using the music industry which is the profession I am in.”

He added: “The first person I contacted about the video was Amy Ridley, who was friends with Chloe Rutherford.

“We then came up with the idea of trying to get our local music scene involved.

“I got organising straight away and started speaking to singers and contacts that I know.

“I put a status online, and I received around 60 emails of people who were wanting to get involved.

“Unfortunately, we have only been able to cut it down to around 30 singers from the North East including Britain’s Got Talent contestant Jamie Lee Harrison and also Xfactor competitor Geoff Mull.”

Tyron said that a number of local businesses have got involved to help, donating their services free of charge.

These include ML Productions let the group use their recording facilities for three days; Dan Charles from UBeat TV who is volunteering to shoot the video and Hidden Heights who provided their studio for the filming location.

Tyron said he hoped it would get into the charts: “We just wanted to get everyone together to show support.

“The group is made up of professional and amateur singers of all ages - from primary school ages to those in their 20s from across the North East.

“We are really pleased with how it’s turned out, it sounds amazing.”
