Somme 100: They fell far from home

Today we continue to list the names of the 188 South Tyneside men who lost their lives on the very first day of the Battle of the Somme, which occurred 100 years ago this month.

Thanks to historian Peter Hoy, we are able to pay tribute to the soldiers who gave their lives for their country on a battlefield far from home.
