South Shields FC stormed into the FA Vase Final with a 4-0 win over Coleshill Town on Saturday, sealing their first trip to Wembley, on May 21, with a 6-1 aggregate win.

Three-year-old Elliott Howell was so thrilled with the news he couldn’t bear to take his South Shields FC shirt off and wore it for bed.

Dad, Kevin Howell, 42, said Elliott, and his older brother, Callum, seven, are so excited by the club’s win they can talk of nothing else.

Kevin, who is one of the club’s sponsors, said: “He didn’t want to take the shirt off, so he slept in it.

“He said he was dreaming about when we go to Wembley.”

Although the boys didn’t go to the match, Kevin said they will definitely be going to Wembley.

He said: “The whole family is going, it will be amazing.”

Kevin, who lives at The Broadway near the sea front, said winning the match and securing a trip to Wembley has had a massive impact on the town.

He said: “The town is absolutely buzzing about the win. My phone has never stopped ringing with people asking about going to Wembley.

“I went out for a bike ride and when I came back I had 76 messages for different people.”

Kevin said there will be people from all over the country and further afield making the trip to Wembley to support the lads.
