The awards are based on reviews from residents and their friends and relations on the services and facilities provided.

Residents and their loved ones can rate various aspects of the home, such as facilities, staff, cleanliness, activities, food and drink, care/support, management, treated with dignity, rooms, value of money and overall standard.

This is then used to calculate a review score, along with the overall number of reviews, the average of each of the ratings and the size of the care home.

The home has an overall review score of 9.9 out of 10 based on 39 reviews over the past two years on the care home directory and review website, carehome.co.uk. Manager of Garden Hill, Lindsay Donoghue-Flockhart, said: “We are absolutely delighted to win the award.

“It means so much to all of us because it comes as a result of the positive feedback from residents, relations and visitors.

“We always strive to deliver the highest quality of care, so it’s wonderful to hear praise from residents, families and visitors.”

Director of carehome.co.uk, Davina Ludlow, said: “We felt the best people to rate a care home were the people who really know its ins and outs, its residents and their families.”
